Dr. Shainhouse is a board-certified dermatologist and pediatrician at SkinSafe Dermatology and Skin Care in Beverly Hills, California, where she specializes in treating adults and children with skin disease. She is also an expert in skin care and non-surgical cosmetic procedures. She is an adjunct associate professor of dermatology at the University of Southern California, where she teaches residents and medical students.
Dr. Shainhouse received her undergraduate degree (BSc., First Class Honors with Distinction) in Biology and Molecular Genetics from York University in Toronto, and received her medical degree (Honors) from the University of Toronto Medical School. She completed her Pediatrics residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and her Dermatology residency at SUNY Stony Brook (VA Chief Resident). She did her pediatric dermatology training at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.
Dr. Shainhouse is an advocate for skin cancer prevention and sun safety practices (#stayskinsafe) and is a board member of Sun Safety for Kids. She is an active member of many local and national medical societies and writes regularly for their professional publications. She has written journal articles and sections in medical textbooks, and is a contributor and advisor for many print and online magazines, news and health sites, including: Women's Health, Men's Fitness, Self, Prevention, Seventeen, TeenVogue, InStyle, RedBook, Glamour, Shape, Brides, Martha Stewart Weddings, Parents, New Beauty, Healthline, Readers Digest, NBC News, Fox News and Yahoo Health.
As a culinary school graduate, she loves to create recipes and entertain with friends and family. In her spare time, she spins and heads to the beach, where she practices safe sun.
